What are full mouth dental implants?

Full mouth dental implants are a fixed teeth replacement solution used to replace all of your upper or lower teeth.

This dental implant treatment involves the placement of at least four (sometimes six) dental implants into the jaw to hold a natural-looking tooth bridge in place. And the best part? The tooth bridge can be connected to the dental implants in as little as 3 days after implant surgery.

This means you can go from struggling with broken down or no teeth to a fixed set of beautiful, functional teeth in a matter of days.

FAQs

Can you get a full mouth of dental implants?

faq plus icon

Yes, dental implants can be used to replace all of your top or bottom teeth. However, single implants are not used to replace each single tooth. Rather, the set of fixed teeth is supported by just 4 to 6 implants.

Most healthy people, regardless of their age, are good candidates for full mouth dental implants. One of the benefits of full mouth implants is that even those with bone loss, reduced jaw bone density or gum disease may be suitable for treatment. The best way to find out if this treatment option is right for you is with a dental implants consultation — take our quiz to see if you qualify for a FREE consult (normally valued at $500).

What’s the difference between the Essential Care and Premium Care Package?

faq plus icon

The key difference that affects the cost of full mouth dental implants lies in the final replacement teeth you receive. The Essential Care Package includes a final implant supported tooth bridge made from acrylic over a titanium framework. This tooth bridge offers a beautiful natural-looking result but will wear down faster, especially if you have a strong bite or bruxism. The Premium Care Package includes a final implant supported tooth bridge made from zirconia over a titanium framework which offers the most lifelike results with superior durability and strength.

Do you offer a full mouth dental implants payment plan?

faq plus icon

Yes, TLC (Total Lifestyle Credit) allows you to loan up to $50,000 to cover your All on 4 dental implants full mouth cost and pay in comfortable instalments over time. Applying for a loan through TLC is easy — either online or over the phone. Plus, there are fast approvals for eligible patients with funds paid directly into your nominated bank account. Learn more about payment plans in this article.

Can I access my superannuation to cover the full mouth dental implants cost?

faq plus icon

Some patients may be able to access their own super (or the super of their spouse, partner or other dependent) to cover the total cost of their dental implant treatment. Learn more about this option, the eligibility criteria and how to apply in this article.

What are the full mouth dental implant procedure steps?

faq plus icon

In most cases, the dental implants full mouth can be placed in a single day and the surgery takes around 3-4 hours per jaw. A few (usually 3 to 7) days later, you will return to have either your temporary tooth bridge fitted or your final acrylic tooth bridge fitted (only suitable for some patients under the Essential Care Package). Patients who receive a temporary tooth bridge will return once their jaw bone and gums have healed (approx. 6 months later) to have their final tooth bridge fitted. See a complete rundown of the All on 4 procedure here.

Are full mouth dental implants safe?

faq plus icon

Like all surgical procedures, the full mouth dental implant procedure does have some potential risks (learn all about the full mouth dental implants pros and cons here). However, it’s reassuring to know that this is one of the most successful dental treatments when planned and performed by an experienced dentist, like Dr George Connell, and is reported to have a success rate of around 95-97%. While complications may occur, they are rare.

Is the full mouth dental implant procedure painful?

faq plus icon

Rest assured that you won’t feel any pain or discomfort during the implant placement procedure. Local anesthetic is used to numb the mouth and most patients also choose to have treatment under IV sedation (also called twilight sedation or sleep dentistry) so they feel relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. Afterwards, you may have some discomfort, swelling and bruising for a few days, which can be easily managed with the pain relief medication provided to you. We recommend that you take at least a week off work during your full mouth dental implants healing time to rest and adjust to your new replacement teeth.

How long do full mouth dental implants last?

faq plus icon

With proper dental care and maintenance, including a good oral hygiene routine and regular check-ups by your dentist, dental implants should last for many decades. The lifespan of your implant supported teeth will depend on the material they’re made from. If you opt for the acrylic tooth bridge in the Essential Care Package, this is a less durable material which can wear down quicker and may need to be replaced after 5 to 10 years due to normal wear and tear. If you opt for the Premium Care Package, the zirconia tooth bridge is a much more robust and long term option and should last for several decades with the right care.

Can’t I get a cheaper full mouth dental implants price elsewhere?

faq plus icon

If you’ve seen a cheaper full mouth dental implants cost Australia (or even overseas), it pays to consider why the treatment plan might cost less. A cheaper price could indicate:

  • Less experienced dentist
  • Lower quality materials and components from cheaper suppliers
  • The clinic works with offshore or less reputable laboratories for their prostheses

In this article, we explore why you should think twice about getting cheaper dental implants full mouth treatment overseas. You might also be interested in reading the 5 things you should check before choosing your dental implant clinic.
